Abstract
This paper describes the compilation of the aquatic gastropod fauna of the Tisza River and its tributaries, including the fauna of the floodplains as well. From the 20 studied watercourses the Hungarian reaches were examined in details by Kálmán Czógler, István Vásárhelyi and the members of the Tisza Research Group: Andor Horváth and Károly Bába for the river Tisza and its tributaries. Gyula Kovács and Tamás Domokos were focusing on the Hungarian and Romanian reaches of the Körös, the Berettyó, and the Maros rivers, while Béla Csányi, András Varga also contributed to the study of the river Tisza and its tributaries. Finally, Andrei Sárkány Kiss dealt with the Romanian reaches. As a result of the compilatory work 64 species could have been identified in the watershed of the Tisza.
