Abstract
Making proper decisions requires planning. Planning makes decision making safer. Decision making is a process of selection, with a scope of different action or non-action possibilities. We are working on the development of an information system with decision support capabilities, and a data base related which can be used in education and can also be used by food industry companies in Hungary's Southern Great Plain Region. To achieve our goals, we need to get familiar with the opinion of the most executives possible: what data are required for decision making, what the sources of data are and what information systems are used, if there are any. Research surveys have shown so far that most of the food industry companies operating in the region do not use computerised information systems at all.
