Abstract

This paper presents a study of relations between graphitization processes and metamorphic conditions in the easternmost windows of the Alpine Penninic system (Eastern Austria, Western Hungary). Samples for comparison were collected from the Tauern Window, too. From XRD investigations it can be concluded that strong shearing could result in development of graphite in greenschist fades conditions. The mobility of metamorphic fluids also plays a determining role in graphitization.
