Abstract

According to sparse samples, the radioactivity of young sediments of some lakes on the Danube-Tisza Interfluve was remarkably high compared to that of their environment and the average of such formations. Many of these lakes are utilized by tourism and fisheries, that is why it is important to examine how reliable the results of previous measurements are. We have performed in situ and laboratory analyses on two typical lakes. Our aim was to determine the degree of radiation and the areal distribution of the radioactive element content in their sediment.
