Abstract

According to a charter issued on 8th November 1423 by the court of Sáros county, Veronika, wife of Fülöp of Szentmihály, started a trial against László, son of Bertalan of Ruszka, because after her late husband, castellanus Jakab had died near Prague, Bertalan robbed the goods and belongings of Jakab, and these goods still were at Lászlós possession even at the time of Veronikas complainment. The deputy of Veronica introduced three persons - Pé- ter Varjú of Buclo, János Fias of Jékelfalu and Miklós Apród of Tótselymes - who confirmed that they had been at the location where the robbery had happened. In this study the author tries to identify castellanus Jakab, and the other persons whose names are written in the charter mentioned above.
