Abstract
Every organizations face uncertainty and risk. Risk management is an approach for dealing with uncertainty. According to some literature the management of organizations involves three core functions: strategic management, operations management and risk management. These three functions are complementary. Therefore strategic risk management can be defined as a management function that pursues to identify and assess the causes and effects of uncertainty in an organization, moreover, takes them into account during the strategic decisions and the implementation of strategies. This study discuss the terms of risk and uncertainty, the phases of the strategic risk management process, the model of strategic risk management, and the methods used in the field of strategic risk management. One of the key approaches to managing strategic risk is scenario analysis which allows the analysis of future complex and uncertain situations. In addition, it is essential to develop the strategic actions on the basis of different scenarios, and to use strategic control for strategic risk management purposes.
