Abstract
Iuvenalis 1. szatírájának a költői biztonság kérdésével foglalkozó zárlatában az interlocutor arra inti a költőt, hogy hagyományos mitológiai témákkal foglalkozzon, hiszen ha egy felkapaszkodott előkelőt támad verseivel, saját életét is veszélybe sodorhatja. A Tigillinusszal kapcsolatos figyelmeztetést tartalmazó 155–157. sor az 1. szatírakönyv szövegkritikai szempontból talán legvitatottabb locusa, s értelmezési problémákat is tartogat. A szöveghely pontos értelmezéséhez, mely fontos szerepet játszik a programvers zárlatának interpretációjában, az irodalmi előképek vizsgálata vihet közelebb. The last section of Juvenal’s Satire 1 deals with the question of the poet’s personal safety. The interlocutor warns the poet that he should write traditional mythological epic instead of satire, since he can risk his own life if he attacks e.g. Tigillinus (a low-born upstart) in his poems. The interlocutor’s lines on Tigillinus are probably the most difficult and disputed lines of Book 1 of the Satires, as there are more text-critical and interpretational problems in this passage. The analysis of the literary sources and other Juvenalian loci can bring us closer to the original text and the exact meaning of this passage that is crucial for the interpretation of Juvenal’s programmatic Satire 1.
