Abstract
The changes in the financing of higher education, particularly the drastic reduction of the state-supported places as well as the significant withdrawal of State aid, are substantially rearranging the sources necessary for the functioning of institutions. The authors are examining the changes from more than one angle since the higher education institutions obtain the funds from numerous sources and via different channels. The expenditures-to-GDP ratio accepted in the international practice is analysed at first and then the trend in the amount of institutional sources is analysed, pointing out that the amount of budget support granted to the higher education decreases while the state budget expenditures go on increasing from year to year. The treatise primarily processes domestic specialized literary sources. The analysis has been prepared since 2009, based on the available statistical data as well as the expenditure headings for the central state budget and the report of the State Audit Office.
