Abstract

While private sector employers seem to have already realised the different expectations of Y generation workforce and there have been lot of research done on this topic, many public administration organisations, which may be less competitive with businesses in some aspects, are still struggling without concepts and solutions to attraction and retention of young people. Based on analysis of Hungarian and international literature as well as empiric research results at a public administration organisation my aim is to conclude the most important challenges and to raise the question whether public administration employers are ready to satisfy the truly existing new needs of Y generation? I also conclude proposals within the current legal framework to support employee engagement and I call for further empiric research and continous staff satisfaction analysis at public administration organisations, because I believe only that could provide basis for proper human resource management actions.
