Abstract

It is usually held as evidence that the knowledge of our history is essential to build and define our identity. The absence or losing of our remembrance is a peculiar effect which could generate an „uncoordinated” behavior. That is why it is not accidental that teaching history – particularly the history of the different disciplines – exults for unquestionable consensus. However, economics is an exception which consider its history is a despicable discipline. This mentality causes the increasing omission of history of economic thought in the curriculums and mainstream economics. The present paper investigates the reasons of the aforementioned problem set. Firstly, the previous thinking, which causes the current situation, is explored. Furthermore, this paper try to shed light on the consequences and results of this kind of thinking to determine the effects of this mentality to economic education as well as economic thinking. Is it able the economics to reject the competition between the his sub-disciplines in favor of reconstruction?
