Abstract

District of Fehértemplom was an administrative unit of the County of Temes. Its territory is now in southeastern part of Banat, in Serbia. The capital of the district was Fehértemplom (Serbian: Бела Црква / Bela Crkva, Romanian: Biserica Alba, German: Weißkirchen). District of Fehértemplom included the town of Fehértemplom and 19 villages. The ethnic composition of the district of Fehértemplom according to the 1910 census: Serbs (57%), Romanians (22,35%), German (13%), Hungarian (2,46%) and others (5,19%). Settlements with Serb ethnic majority were in 13 villages. The settlements with Romanian ethnic majority were four villages. The settlement with German ethnic majority was Nagykárolyfalva, and with Czech ethnic majority was Csehfalva. The ethnic composition of the town of Fehértemplom according to the 1910 census: German (52,6%), Serbs (17,3%), Romanians (15,7%), Hungarian (10,5%) and others (3,9%). This essay focuses several local ethnic groups (mostly Germandom, Serbs, Romanians, Hungarians and Czechs) population history from middle ages to nowadays with census data.
