This article gives a general overview of bioindicators, and it shows the possibilities as well as limitations of plants in the ozone-monitoring. The utilization of ozone-bioindicators in Hungary in ozone-monitoring started only some years ago, but up to now only one type of tobacco has been involved in the investigations. After a short description of this realized Hungarian pilotproject, finally I give a short overview of the impact on public education of such experiments.
