On sloping arable lands, it is essential to be precise in the use of fertilization, as the movement, and thus loss, of nutrients due to soil erosion is not only useless, but it also greatly contributes to erosion base eutrophication in the area. In our work, we trailed the erosion-caused spatial redistribution of phosphorus in the sub-soils of a 14 km2 study area within the drainage basin of Lake Velence. On a micro-scale, on two slopes of a vineyard, we measured element redistribution due to rainfall with sediment collectors. We calculated the enrichment ratio as a quotient of the concentration measured in the subsoil with that in the sediment. On a meso-scale, we determined the amount of soil moving in the study area with the soil erosion model, Erosion 3D, and, after that, we calculated the erosional losses of phosphorus with the help of the initial phosphorus content maps and element ratios. The method can help in area planning and our results may contribute to optimal land use and the introduction of precision agriculture in Hungary.
