Abstract
In this study, first, a software-based method of sky view factor estimation from a 3D building database is developed and applied. Second, the related investigations in Szeged and the importance of obtained results compared to the previous studies are discussed. Previous investigations were limited to only specific parts or only some urban canyons and used low amount of sites and occasions of measurements. Our study utilizes a large number of areal means of sky view factor and air temperature related to a large sample area in the city and based on numerous measurements. According to the results, there is a strong relationship in the intra-urban variations of these variables. Therefore, investigations of sufficient number of appropriate-sized areas, covering large parts of a city, are needed to draw well-established conclusions on the studied relationship.
