Palabras clave: sociedad, solidaridad, utopía, tiempo cíclico Abstract: The Mole in a Dream is apparently a children's story, but it is actually a utopian critique of the society, the realization of a nightmare implemented by an excessively technical world to destroy everything and guide the main character towards a primitive way of life and society. The basis of this new society is formed by friendship and mutual aid, but it is completed with the elements of party and rite. The return to the natural archetype is scary and funny at the same time, but the helplessness of man against the immense power of nature makes it more threatening than desired. At the same time, in Julio Cortázar's South Highway the loss of utopia exasperates the main character, but the exceptional reality is only temporary. A simple traffic jam becomes a state of emergency, which leads to a new temporary, cyclical and collective structure. Drivers begin to form an alternative society where the organizing principle is solidarity. But when from the perspective of the new order travelling becomes completely surreal, the jam suddenly ends, the group dissolves, and the alternative society, reality and time also vanish. The two works criticize the world dominated by technology and historical time, the fast and meaningless rush towards the future, and the emptiness of life focused exclusively on the individual. This paper analyses the manipulation of time and other instruments used in the two works to create an alternative reality and society.
