Absztrakt (kivonat)
The theatre has healing power, claims Giovan Battista Andreini, one of the greatest dramaturgists of 17th century italian professional theatre. The theatre is capable of annihilating the chaos ruling human life by using the orders of writing and composition. It can teach the audience how to combine their rational and irrational powers in making the right decisions in their every day lives. Besides outlining Andreini’s theatre theory, my paper compares it with Antonin Artaud’s and Vidor Turner’s conceptions of performance.
