Abstract
Between 2002 and 2005, our department participated in the EU Program Process-integrated thermic and Chemical Processing and reuse ofelectronic waste containing halogens. Our task was the development of a computer program for the modelling of heat disintegration of plastics. These processes have a lot in common with carbonhydrogen buming accompanied with ash formation. As a follow up to the project, we complemented the software so that it would be able to model burning processes. This paper concerns the results we achieved in the field of the reconstruction of the ash-partides’ particlesize distribution based on their momentums. Based on the experiment results, measured PSDs and calculated momentums we propose an approximation of the distributions based on the Hosemann-Schramek function. In addition, we explain an algorithm, with the help of which bimodal PSDs can be reliably divided up into Hosemann-Schramek distributions.
