Zoltán Kodály as composer was a definitive creator of the Hungarian music in the 20th century. One of the main feature of his style is a special, new way of the harmonization, which adopts the European functional harmonization-system in the arrangement of the monodic Hungarian folksongs. This study using the results of the researches of Ernő Lendvai and Lajos Bárdos, shows the changes of the meaning the words „funktion” and „order of funtions” with the method of analyseing of thirdty, mostly vocal Kodály-examples.
