Abstract
The Icelandic society functioned according to strict rules right after the settlement in Iceland. The men who broke the laws could get the most serious punishment and become outlaws. However, the consequences of being an outlaw were not always the same. I would like to give an insight by presenting the lives of two Icelandic men in the 10th century who were both outlawed for committing murder.
