Absztrakt (kivonat)
The Szeri Pósa family, originated from the Bár-Kalán kindred and established at Sződi (Ternes County) is one of the noble families who succeeded to socially rise being in the service of King Charles I of Hungary. Based on the family archive we tried to follow the private estate construction process of the family of Pósa, during several generations. The family estate lay throughout more counties, but mostly it was to be found in the region between the Maros-Tisa-Danube Rivers and was organised in several parts, gravitating usually around a market-place (oppidum). Within the boundaries of these estate centres noble residences were constructed. Late medieval charters mention at least four such residences, the main at Sződi, the others at Hódos, Mácsalaka and Derekegyház. Archaeologically two of them can be detected today out on the field as small earth fortifications. Only the one at Sződi (today Frumujeni, Arad County) was investigated back in the late '40s, but results were published merely as a short text report.
