The Great War, that began in the summer of 1914 could not be ended qiuckly [!quickly] because of the unreal military plans. Due to the prolonged war, the question of the POW’s took huge dimensions, and the warring parties were not prepared for the problem at Hand. The problems, that occured with the massive number of the POW’s did not steer clear of Austria–Hungary, as from the year of 1914 to 1918 about 1,2–2,3 million POW’s were captured by the army of the double monarchy. Among the massive number of prisoners of war, we can find about one hundred and fifty thousand serbain[!serbian ] POW’s,who were captured in the campaigns of 1914–1915. In Hungary, most of the POW camps were founded in West-Hungary, because of strategic reasons, thus logically the serbian POW’s were also placed here. In my prtesentation, I expound on introducing the situations of serbain [!serbian ] POW’s in the region of Csallóköz, with the help of the Csallóközi Lapok, and with the help of the most important archival sources, that deal with the problem of the serbian POW’s.
