Abstract
Thirty-three letters have remained from the Roman Catholic ethnographer, Sándor Bálint which were written to the Jewish Rabbi and literature historian Sándor Scheiber. From Sándor Scheiber twelve letters can be found in the heritage of Sándor Bálint. In the longer or shorter letters they gave professional advice, data to each other, or asked help in different themes, sometimes in personal ones. They mutually reviewed the works of each other. The close contact of the two scientists began in 1947, when Sándor Scheiber habilitated with Sándor Bálint at the Szeged University and lasted until death. Their correspondence is a true mirror of a friendship based on the trust in God and faithfulness to Hungarian language and culture, the Hungarian nation.
