Abstract
The Győr-Sopron-Ebenfurt railway was on a special track following the Second World War. This train could pass over the Iron Curtain and could be in contact with the West. After the dictatorical period of the 1950s, the 1960s showed a more blissful state. This caused changes in the situation of GYSEV, mainly when the Catering Services of the GYSEV was created in 1973 due to a long preparatory process. In the 1970s and 1980s we can see a success story in the tourism and hospitality of the GYSEV which is one of the most interesting and the most popular elements of so-called nostalgia trains. The following study deals with the background of these processes and their differerent versions.
