In Hungary like in other European and non-European wine-producing countries the railways had an enormous impact on the trade of vine and wine. On the one hand the time of delivery reduced, on the other hand railways introduced new regions into the trade. The first part of the article deals with a special micro-re-gion which had specialized on the production of table grapes. The second part attempts to analyse how railways had influenced the development of state cellar system in the interwar period.
