Abstract
My recent work is about the correspondence of István Könczöl covering the period of the First Word War. On 28.02.1916 he joined the Supplementary Force Command inSzékesfehérvár. During the war he worked as a sanitarian doing the laundries and being active in baths in the region of Odessa and Lemberg. He had to go to the front where the correspondence was the only one and only way of keeping touch with the homeland. The letters being sent home contain typical thought of such who needed support being so far away from home covering emotions, feelings, views and thought preoccupying him: How is life at home? Will his lover waiting for him until he returns? Will she cheat him? Worries about the familiy, the farm and the view of the hopless future. As the same time the letters illustrate the way of traiding, what products were sent and recived.
