Abstract
The introductory first part of the paper is dealing with the research-history of pilgrimages in ethnography from theoretical point of view. Then in a case study the author describes the pilgrimages from the viewpoint of communication and analyses the private photographes of a pilgrim who visited Medugorje (BosniaHercegovina) as member of a Hungarian pilgrim group from a small village in county Baranya. These pictures are amateur photographes which can be interpreted only in the frame of the pilgrim route. They fix and memorize the event and form the memory.
