El pensamiento cinematográfico de José Revueltas aporta cuatro clases de testimonio: una lectura histórica del cine en México, propuesta estética basada en el método dialéctico del cine realista, descripción socioeconómica de la industria cinematográfica en este país, programa para un cine latinoamericano de vanguardia. Los escritos del periodo 1940-1967 permiten comprender mejor el nomos del campo cinematográfico a través de la mirada situada del guionista. Sus reflexiones aportan elementos para una historia crítica del cine en México. José Revueltas’ cinematographic thinking brings four kinds of testimonies: a historical reading of the cinema in Mexico, an aesthetic proposal based on the dialectical method of realistic cinema, a socioeconomic description of this industry in the country, a program for a Latin American avant-garde cinema. The texts, written between 1940 and 1967, allow for a better understanding of the nomos of the cinematographic field through the situated point of view of the screenwriter. His reflections provide elements for a critical history of cinema in Mexico.
