Abstract
The main aim of our study was to present the economic impact of the change of regime through the example of Hungary and the initial difficulties of the country after the change of regime. In the first chapter, we introduce system change as a concept with contrasting the two major economic systems: socialism with the capitalist system. We examine the causes of the change of regime, then describe what reform programs governments have developed and the results of the transition. The next part of our study is about the purpose of the research, in which the methodology of the research is described in detail. In the practical part of the research, we analyze the main economic processes using secondary data, using data from the Central Statistical Office, UNCTADSTAT and the Annual Report of the National Bank of Hungary. The final chapter of the study presents the main conclusions of our research.
