The European Committee has finalised the agricultural budget for the period of. 2007-2013. The finalised budget was accepted by the European Parliament and the Council of the Ministers of Agriculture. The member countries can prepare for the launching of projects at the beginning of 2007. By joining the European Union, Hungary now has the opportunity to apply for large-scale agricultural and rural development support. These resources are only available for us if a well-founded strategy is developed to use the funds effectively. In the budget period of 2007-2013 significant changes are expected in the direct disbursement of agricultural and rural support. The various types of support have been paid from different financial resources so far. The two pillars supporting agricultural and rural development have clearly been separated. The process of financing for 2007-2013 is defined by the regulations of the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD). The European Agricultural Guarantee Fund (EAGF) will serve as the second pillar of finance. The realisation of the agricultural and rural development plan of Hungary is part of a longer process. Hungary has compiled its agricultural and rural development strategy plan following the previous objectives in accordance with rural development guidelines set in regulation (EC) No 1698/2005.
