This paper aims to collect miniature vessels of the Gáva Culture in Hungary, in order to determine the criteria of their separation from the rest of pottery, to typologically analyze them, and to evaluate their finding circumstances. This can provide information about the role of the vessel type. The pots were selected by their size and shape, as their design in many cases imitates the “large” versions. Based on the typological analysis, it can be assumed that the shapes of the miniature vessels are very diverse, they are decorated and of good quality. All this shows that most of them were made carefully, presumably by trained potters. The main part of this paper is the evaluation of the finding conditions. The vessels suitable for the examination of the conditions mostly come from settlement objects, including pits, and, very rarely from burial objects. The occasional sometimes concentrated occurrence of small animal figures should be highlighted among the artifacts found together with miniature vessels. Considering the condition of the pots, a large part of them have been preserved intact, which is very rare in the case of ceramic material found in settlement objects. In connection with the interpretation of the role of the miniature vessels, there are two possibilities discussed in the scholarship: they are either children’s toys or objects related to ritual activities. For the time being, it can be assumed that one miniature vessel was connected to a special practice. Presently, the vessels’ role is not clearly defined, however, later examination of their relationship with the artifacts found together with them – possibly with animal figures – can provide a basis for their interpretation.
