My paper deals with the status of local government representatives from the perspective of the status of indignity. The dignity of the post as a determining factor in legal status is defined in Act CLXXXIX of 2011 on Local Governments (hereafter referred to „Mötv.”), which exhaustively lists the circumstances that lead to the termination of the office of local government representatives as a ground for injustice. The list is narrow, punitive and economic- based, whereas the meaning of indignity in the case of civil servants and what the etymological meaning of the word implies: these are forms of behavior that fundamentally call into question the suitability for public trust and thus for the dignity of the post. The paper concentrates ont he analysis of this issue. The research is based on a doctrinal stance and examines injustice in the light of indignity as a new legal institution introduced by Mötv. Using the comparative method, the study tries to draw a parallel with the public service regulation of the same name, but based on completely different reasons. Analysing the cases that occur in practice, the study attempts to review and systematise the dogmatics and regulation of the legal institution. Taking into account the statements made during the research, the paper concludes with de lege ferenda proposals to put ammunition in the hands of the legislator in order to eliminate the detected anomalises.
