Abstract

Az olasz humanizmus egyik legnagyobb hatású és legismertebb tanáregyénisége, Guarino Veronese tudományos munkássága döntő többségében sem életében, sem az azt követő évszázadok során nem került kiadásra. Igaz ez a Persius szatíráihoz írt kommentárjára is, amelynek különböző értékű másolatait kilenc kézirat őrizte meg számunkra. Jelen írás a tervezett kritikai kiadás várható hozadékainak szemléltetéseként kíván betekintést nyújtani Guarino szellemi műhelyébe. Az első szatíra 1-12. sorainak értelmezésében ugyanis szerzőnk interpretációja jelentős mértékben eltér azok rendkívül gazdag modern értelmezéseitől. A szövegrésznek egy feltételezett terentiusi párhuzamból kiinduló sajátos tagolása ugyanis egyedi kontextusba helyezi a sorokban foglalt párbeszédet. Guarino közel 600 éve elfeledett, sajátos látásmódról és irodalomértésről tanúskodó szövegértelmezése – tévedései ellenére is - komoly érdeklődésünkre tarthat számot. The greater part of the scholarly works of Guarino Veronese, of one of the most influental and well-known teacher of Italian humanism, has not been published neither during his lifetime nor in the following centuries until today. This is also true for his commentary on Persius’ Satires. It has been preserved us by nine – better or worse – manuscripts. This paper attempts to provide an insight into Guarino’s intellectual workshop as in advance of the ongoing critical edition. The interpretation of Pers. 1, 1-12. in his commentary is significantly different from the numerous modern readings. The peculiar segmentation of the text supported by a supposed Terentian parallel places the dialogue of these lines in a proper context. Guarino’s interpretation, forgotten for nearly 600 years, is, despite its obvious mistakes, without doubt worthy of our interest, bearing witness to his special insight and literary talent.
