There is a close connection between law and culture, where their inseparable unit should be interpreted as a society-forming tool. While law should be interpreted as a set of compulsory rules of conduct issued or sanctioned by the state, culture should be interpreted as the whole of customs and traditions. One of the areas affected by their connection is the economy and the financial sector within. The interpretation of the financial literacy characterizing the financial area has a significant impact not only on social but also on individuals’ level. Considering the individuals’ level, a change is to be noted relating to the financial habits and financial culture of financial consumers in the period after to the economic crisis in 2008. The changing direction of financial consumer habits makes it all the more necessary for the legislation pay particular attention to developing financial literacy, especially in the digital era. For this reason, it should also provide better information on FinTech solutions beyond the classical definition of financial services. The purpose of this paper is to highlight the effect of innovation on financial literacy and to give a better understanding of the importance of law in this context.
