Abstract

The article describes S. Stepa’s modelling of an artistic world of the novel Gen in terms of the absurdity of existence. The main character’s story serves as an example of the existential elements implied by the author: suffering, problems of choice and taking responsibility for them, the drama of the search for freedom by means of love; and the principles of existentialism, which show a man projecting himself into the future, being responsible for his/her predilections; he/she exists only as much as he/she demonstrates him/herself, and that existence is much important than his/her self. S. Stepa comprehends the components that save a person in difficult situations and move him in life - It is memory of the kin and love. They control the individual not always with the consent of his rationality, but through the archetypal codes.
