Abstract

This paper is aimed at analysing the potential use of Artificial Intelligence when collecting and analysing high volume of evidence, as well as identifying persons of interest (offenders and victims alike). AI can be used to collect and process a significant amount of data even coming from different sources, thus computer algorithms and adequate data processing techniques make the evaluation of big data under short time possible. The paper demonstrates international good practices from criminalistics, which have already been implemented abroad and sets out recommendations for future Hungarian developments, while also keeping an eye on the fundamental rights challenges of AI.
