Absztrakt (kivonat)
Digital technologies have a fundamental impact on our everyday life, including the world of work. The use of digital technologies is increasingly inevitable during work. Having appropriate digital competences is expected to play an increasingly important role in the labor market, both in terms of obtaining and keeping a job, as well as regarding the quality of work. However, significant differences are observed as regards the use of digital technologies between certain social groups, raising the issue of digital inequality. According to the OECD, digital inequality refers to inequalities between the material, cultural and cognitive resources necessary for the appropriate use of ICT, including both access to digital tools and the quality of use. Just as social inequalities have already appeared in the world of work, social differences found in the use of digital tools are also present, typically further deepening the already existing inequalities. It is of prime importance for both the EU and Hungary to prevent the segregation of these social groups and to promote that every citizen can take advantage of the opportunities offered by digitalization. Equal opportunity in the digital domain gains particular importance, aiming to ensure the convergence of individuals affected by digital inequality in order to have equal opportunities in the digital society and the digital labor market. The 21st century employee can effectively deal with the constantly arising (digital) challenges only if he/she continuously educates himself/herself, which means providing a crucial role to education and lifelong learning, allocating responsibilities and tasks both for the states and for the individual. The article reviews the impact of digitization on workplaces, then examines digital inequality arising in the world of work, and finally addresses possible solutions to overcoming digital inequality.
