Abstract
„amore mi mosse, che mi fa parlare” – The role of Beatrice in Dante Alighieri's poetics. An interpretation of a contemporary Italian author Elena Ferrante's study “Dante's Rib” examines the nuanced relationship between the representation of women in the literary works of Dante Alighieri. Ferrante examines the ways in which Dante's portrayal of women as symbols and individual persons reflects contemporary social ideas and dynamics about women. Through her analysis, she shows how Dante's female characters, such as Beatrice, act as catalysts for introspection and story development. Ferrante offers insights into the enduring significance of the portrayal of women, while delving into the richness and depth of Dante's medieval milieu. Her examination reveals the depth of Dante's poetic vision and prompts the reader to reflect on the role of women in his literary universe and in the present.
