Abstract
Under Nr. Harley MSS. 7013. fol. 147. the British Museum keeps several letters from Transylvanian students. Their historical background is the application of the Calvinist College of Nagyenyed (today's Aiud in Rumania) to the British Protestants for financial help to rebuild their devastated school after the Tartar raid in 1711. The authors of the letters are: 1. J. Pathay Balogh to F. Pápai Páriz jr., whose father commissioned him to collect the alms. 2. F. Pápai Párizjr. to his brother; 3. A. Ajtai to F. Pápai Páriz jr. The letters contain valuable information about the political struggles in the homeland, about the social condition of the peregrinating students and about their contacts with German, Swiss, Dutch and British leading Protestant personalities.
