%X 20th century history is full of ’sensitive points’. The events of the earlier centuries can be studied retrospectively, and their impact is not so powerful as those of the ’terrible twentieth century’. The last century, especially its second half, has not been tamed yet. Its agents live among us, its consequences, certain institutions and attitudes still have their impacts and many sources have been destroyed or sealed. Those people who have lived through some of these events react sensitively and passionately. The most dynamic change has happened in the teaching approach of the '56 revolution. It is an excellent example for teachers to face the problems of history instruction, which is inevitably our task, however difficult it is. The roots of our recent problems go back to there, and to be able to find answers to our present questions we have to look back to the history of the 20th century.
