%X The main result of the few days of operation of the counter-revolutionary government in Arad that it was able to prove to the Hungarian and emigrant anti-revolutionary groups that there was anti-communist political potential in the territory of the Hungarian state. The most important measure of the counterrevolutionary cabinet headed by Count Gyula Károlyi, established on May 5 1919 with French support, was the repeal of the legislation of the council-republic. The government consisted of local (Arad and Timisoara), dualist politicians, administrative leaders, and public figures, including both liberal and independent parties. It is important to mention that the government of Arad – together with the later counter-revolutionary governments of Szeged – was recognized by Prime Minister István Friedrich as a legal cabinet, and its members were considered ministers. The source of the study was the memoirs of the journalist Jób Paál and Béla Barabás the Minister of Religion and Public Education of the Government of Arad.
