IbrĂĄny is situated in the so called NyĂrsĂŠg territory in the North East of Hungary. In this paper I am showing the cases why this âIbrĂĄny Independent Congregation" came into life at the beginning of the 20th century. One cause can be traced back to the 19 century agrarian socialist movement and in the impact of the newspaper of the âAgrarian (Small Landowner's) Independent Socialist Party" (FĂśldmĂvelĹ, FĂźggetlen Szocialista PĂĄrt). From this newspaper the founders of this religious group get to know Smith, JenĹ Henrik's âtolstoianic" religious thoughts. The interrelationship between the socialist impact and the new religious thoughts is quite typical in this case. After this movement wasstopped, the parish choir-masterstarted a spiritist circle. This was an escape from the contemporary corrupt religious life in the village. The group leaves the Presbitarian Church and later also gives up spiritism. After leaving the Presbiterian Church they were without any leaders. Their leader laber on, who accepted by the numbers. His ability of knowing, understanding and explaining the Bible was considered as a gift of God. %P 205-210 %V 1 %J Szentemberek - a vallĂĄsos ĂŠlet szervezĹ egyĂŠnisĂŠgei %S Szegedi vallĂĄsi nĂŠprajzi kĂśnyvtĂĄr %D 1998
