Absztrakt (kivonat)

The aim of this paper is to describe the ways Hungarian speakers extend turnconstructional units (TGU) in their conversations. It-attempts to clarify the different types of TCU expansion appearing in Hungarian and exam whether this appearance is related (and if it is, in what way) to the syntactic structure of Hungarian. It analyzes the prosodic connection of expansions to the basic units of TCUs, and tries to illuminate the way this prosodic connection correlates with the role TCU expansions have in the turn-taking system. The last part makes a comparison between the appearance of TCU expansion in Hungarian and other languages that have been examined in this respect so far (English, German and Japanese).
