Absztrakt (kivonat)
Despite the silence of the narrative sources, the relationship between Sigismund of Luxemburg, King of Hungary (1387-1437) and his wife, Queen Mary of Anjou (1382-1395) has hitherto been depicted by the historical literature in utterly negative terms. The present paper attempts to moderate this traditional view. Basing on the itinerary of the royal couple and on the fact that Sigismund had Queen Mary buried at Várad, the author of this study has come to the conclusion that this negative picture is probably false. Although, due to the lack of written sources, it is impossible to prove that the king and his queen were in love with each other, but it is a fact that, with the exception of military campaigns, they spent most of their time together. During the campaigns Mary waited for her husband either at Diósgyőr or at Verőce, both belonging to the queen's honor. It can thus safely be stated that in the written sources it is not possible to find the traces of dislike and hatred, which has so far been supposed by scholars to have characterised the relationship between the king and the queen.
