In Yugoslavia the guerilla-fighter retaliation against Hungarians in 1944/45 could not be spoken about for over fifty years. The exploration of the subject commenced in the beginning of the 90s – not in an unproblematic manner at all – and by today – thanks to the Academy committees of the two countries – numerous works have been published about the issue. The Vajdaság Archive becoming researchable is a huge step and the task awaits historians to determine the number of Hungarian victims as much as possible, concluding the number-war that has been ongoing to this day.
