Absztrakt (kivonat)
The role of the Petchenegs in the beginning of the Hungarian Conquest is a debated issue for a long time. Since the research of early Hungarian history discovered the De administrando imperio in the 18th century, their determinant role was a common opinion. Nowadays, the traditional interpretation is questioned, supposing that the contemporary authors misinterpreted their sources concerning the Pechenegs’ attack against the Hungarians. The aim of this issue is to present the authentic contemporary sources concerning the conflict between Petchenegs and Hungarians, and to analyze the process in the use of informations. As a summary, the analyze shows that the studied sources are reliable concerning the war between Petchenegs and Hungarians.
