Absztrakt (kivonat)
The way of thinking in History textbooks of the Horthy-period was determined by the positive image of the Austro–Hungarian Monarchy (it was the period of peace, welfare and development). Moral standards to be followed and attractive role models occurred by presenting Ferenc Deak, Queen Erzsebet and the romantic emperor-image in textbooks. The Compromise of 1867 meant reconciliation between the king and the nation, and return to the constitutional path. Those who caused contrast between people and their monarch were the ruler’s bad advisers. The warmhearted Queen Erzsebet was found to be suitable to resolve the conflict.
