Abstract
Dél-Ázsia országaiban1 mélyen gyökerező társadalmi hagyományokból eredendően a nők helyzete erősen alárendelt. A nemi egyenlőtlenség az élet minden területén megnyilvánul. Az utóbbi időkben a térség országaiban minden ember alapvető jogának ismerik el az oktatáshoz történő hozzáférést. Általában elmondható, hogy az érintett országok politikailag és törvényi úton is támogatják, és különféle eszközökkel segítik a lányok részvételét az alapfokú oktatásban. Elsődleges céljuk a nemi egyenlőség megteremtése az alapoktatásban, azonban ennek megvalósítása és sikeressége országonként eltérő. A lányok oktatása terén jelentkező akadályok között több olyannal is találkozhatunk, melyek innen Európából szemlélve új megvilágításba helyezik azokat a statisztikai adatokat, melyeket sokszor empirikus elemzéseink során használunk. Mindemellett rádöbbentenek bennünket arra, hogy a nemi egyenlőség központilag történő megteremtése még nem jelent gyógyírt az évszázadokon át kialakult társadalmi sztereotípiákra. In South Asian countries women have very subordinate position resulting from the deeply rooted social traditions. ? e gender inequality appears in all walks of life. In recent years, in the countries of the examined area the right to access education has become a fundamental right for every citizen. It’s generally expressible that the participation of girls in primary education is supported politically and also legally and assisted with various means by the referring countries. ? eir elementary goal is the formation of gender equality in primary education, however the attainment and success diC ers from country to country. More can be observable among the barriers overcoming in girls’ education, which from European point of view throw a new light upon those statistical data usually used by our empirical analyses. Besides these barriers make us to realize that the centrally creation of gender equality does still not mean the solving for the social stereotypes consolidated over the centuries.
