In this paper the author presents an interview recorded in the frame of the Banat research project of the Department of Ethnology, University of Szeged. In the first phase of the years long project we inventarised the more than 1500 votive pictures donated to the pilgrimage place of Mariaradna. Later we tired to reveal the motivation of the donators through interviews. The interview presented here is the story of an ethnic Hungarian woman escaped to the help of the Virgin of Radna from the misdiagnose of her doctor in the 1970s. The most important aim with the thick description presented here is to point out the peculiarities of ethnographic cognition, the dynamic nature of human communication and to present the steps of mutual interpretations ending in a successful interview and in personal friendship in best cases of ethnographic fieldwork.
