The Hungarian primary school, as a type of school, is celebrating its 77th birthday this year. In addition to presenting the circumstances of its creation, my study focuses on the debate surrounding the education of primary school teachers. Teachers from the Ministry of Education, the Trade Union, the Public Education Council and various types of schools have presented their arguments in the professional media, mainly in the journal titled „Köznevelés”. Primary school teachers training began in 1947, but it has come a long way in consolidating the system. During the examination of the students of the first three academic years, we get an idea of who were the first elementary school teachers in our country.
