Absztrakt (kivonat)
The object of our researches was the second decade of the 19th century introducing for the last vigorous cooling period of the little ice age. Th e Tambora volcano in Indonesia broke out between 6 and 9 of April 1815. Th e huge ash cloud was pushed up by the volcano into the atmosphere, fi rst of all into the upper atmosphere settled and washed down for years only. In 1815, 1816 and 1817 the cooling eff ect of the vulcanian veil was sensed primarily in Eurpe and the eastern areas of America, these the contemporaries mentioned as "years without summer” already. Th e contemporaries explained the bad crops of 1816 and 1817 with the global cooling, and famines breaking out then, and the general crisis brought it about likewise typhus epidemic between 1816 and 1819. Th e fundamental question of our research was that the little ice age brought generally climate decay, or actually though the cooling eff ects of Tambora eruption was perceptible or not in the Carpathian Basin in the second part of the 1810s. We made use of two source groups in the course of our reseraches. Regular meteorological observations are proceeding about the Buda astronomical observatory since 1780, the temperature time series of which are continuous only since 1780 however, the precipitation time series aft er sporadic data fractions from 1841 continuous only. Th e second source group was the descriptive historical sources, that I was used primarily from Réthly Antal collection of sources. But I complemented this data base with my researches cocncerning Transylvanian Historia Domus collections. Summing up our results is disappearing that the Tambora eruption, concerned into volcanian dust and ash pushed up into the upper atmosphere and the screening eff ect did not have a vigorous eff ect on the Carpathian Basin’s weather. Alone in the year of the volcanic eruption (1815) were two months (May and September) for which temperature were cool. We may identify only one cool-cold month in Carpathian Basin for each years though in the next three years, for which we may not use in the Hungarian history solidly the term of the "years without summer”.
